Nature Walk at Riverbend Park - Spring 2020
Join Jenny Vick on a nature walk along the mighty Potomac River on Tuesday, April 7th from 1-3 pm.
The incredible display of spring ephemerals will be in full swing along with budding trees. We will also look and listen for any lingering ducks, nesting eagles, early migratory birds and anything else that flies. If we are lucky, we may witness the chorus of American Toads and see some turtles sunbathing. I always feel like I am on a treasure hunt when walking through the woods because there are always so many awe-inspiring gifts mother earth has to offer.
We will meet at Riverbend Park Visitor Center down by the boat ramp at 1 pm and will leisurely walk upriver from there and back finishing around 3 pm. We will walk about 1.5 miles.
The trail is flat but could be muddy and uneven. If you have binoculars please bring them.
The walk is free and will be canceled if it rains. The rain date is April 14th from 8:30-10:30 am.
Directions: Take Georgetown Pike (Rte 193) to Riverbend Road (Rte 603). In 0.2 miles turn right on Jeffery Road and go 0.8 miles to the park entrance sign on right. Turn right and continue 0.5 miles to Visitor Center parking.
