Join us for a 4-week exploration of the Bhagavad Gita through dialogue and creative exploration. Yuki, a devoted teacher and student of Yoga and the Gita joins Maryam to offer a weekly dive into the Gita, through creativity and application to our daily life. Maryam and Yuki have been a student of the Gita for many years and are thrilled to share their wisdom with you. You don’t need to be an artist to creatively explore as each week Maryam will guide simple processes to access mandala musings, the process of poetry, mark-making and the necessity of creative exploration.
Week 1: Mahabaharata - The Bhagavad Gita in context; mandala musings
Discussion: Varna system - division of the society
Week 2: Despair of Arjuna - processing with poetry
Discussion: Experience of despair - senses (physical sensation, quality, texture, vibration) and tools of grounding
Week 3: The Yogas of the Bhagavad Gita - mark making as art making
Discussion: Individual path of Yoga (Karma, Jnana, Bhakti) - balance, equanimity, & vairagya… What is your tool?
Week 4: Supreme Secret - freedom of expression
Discussion: Dharma & Gunas - the Yamas and Niyamas as dharma in modern society; Sattvic Guna for your discernment and action.
Recommended art supplies: a notebook (blank paper or lined), markers or colored pencils, a soup bowl (to draw the outline for the mandala), and any creative expression tool you prefer!
